Sunday 5 August 1984
09:00 - 18:00
Day ride: Dumpdon Hill, Honiton
1 Participants: Richard Wiseman
On the 5th of August the alternative hard day run was to Dumpdon. We had a nice headwind to start the day, with five of us pushing our way up to Exeter. We took the pace nice and smoothly. Avoiding the main road, we navigated through the pleasant lanes of East Devon.

Visiting my Grandpa at Honiton, didn’t he reminisce of his cycling past!

We climbed up the steep hill to the top - Dumpdon at last. We had conquered it! The hill on which we stood gave us beautiful and clear views of Devon and part of Dorset. The fort, which was covered with fresh green beach trees, gave us an excellent spot for lunch.

Dropping down from Dumpdon onto the valley we could see more of this pleasant county in which we live.

Tea was not being served at the Teign House Inn. That was good luck, so we had an ice-cream more like a brick on a stick. To round it off we had a steady run down the Teign Valley. We split and went our separate ways after an easy ride of about a hundred and five miles. Cycling is much better than Sunday TV!
