September’s Afternoon Run attracted 13 members who enjoyed a sunny ride out to Denbury and Ogwell and home through Abbotskerswell.

Today was my first ever ride with the CTC!

I left Buckfastleigh at 1.10 on my bike, heading for Marldon. I had made the journey many times before when riding out to visit my schoolfriend Phil Wrigley, who lives at Marldon - it was he who had invited me to the club.

I arrived in time for the 2.15 start, and there at Five Lanes I met Phil and the rest of the CTC. Twelve of us set off for Denbury. One chap (Don) was a camera enthusiast. Four boys were out, and three of them (the Clayton brothers) had very loud airhorns on their bikes! Other people out were Basil, Graham, Stephen, an elderly chap (Frank), and a father and son from Buckland.

After riding to Denbury we rode back through West Ogwell and the Kerswells. I then cycled back to Buckfastleigh from Marldon, arriving home at around 5.40. Total mileage was around 38 miles.

Stephen Marks joined the club on the June Afternoon Run, and this was his fifth ride with the club.

Roger and Robert Clayton joined the club on 9th July, and for them this was their fourth Club ride.
