Not many out on the afternoon ride, maybe because it was rather chilly with a tendency to frequent heavy showers. Buckfastleigh dominated the attendance with Michael, John and three of Michael’s prospective new riding group from the metropolis.

In view of their having ridden from home we decided to head towards Denbury and Landscove to take them in the right direction. The weather persuaded us to split fairly early and head for home and warmth – shouldn’t it get warmer in May?

Once again, this event was held in the Waddon Brake to Ideford Arch area, and the recent dry spell meant that the off-road sections were hard and bumpy. Nevertheless, fifteen riders appear to have enjoyed their afternoon out, and after being observed on seven rough sections, the winner, Richard Wiseman, emerged two marks clear of the runner up, Colin Brierly.

Thank you, riders, for supporting the event, and thanks to the marshals for helping with observing. The tea and buns section did very well, possibly the most popular one.
