Weekend ride 07 Jul–08 Jul 1979

Beer YH 2

I didn’t go to the Beer weekend, but Colin informs me that the event was a success, particularly in the Wessex DA sector. Don Hassal and Trevor Marshall were there, incorporating their night’s stay with their cycling holiday tour.

Bank Holiday Weekend Holford Exford 4

The Bank Holiday Weekend Holford Exford tour was a challenging cycling adventure marked by persistent rain and mechanical issues. Eight participants embarked on this 84-mile journey, facing numerous punctures due to sharp flints on the roads, with one cyclist experiencing seven in a single day. Despite these setbacks, including a broken gear cable and a buckled wheel, the group demonstrated camaraderie and resilience, supported by the tireless efforts of their fellow cyclists. The tour concluded with a sense of accomplishment and memorable experiences, especially for those new to cycle touring.
